Housing

Crime and Border Security

  • Scrapped single headline Ofsted grades in schools across the North West in landmark school reform.

  • Overhauled apprenticeships across the North West through a new Growth and Skills Levy.

  • Supported parents across the North West by announcing the first stage of the government's plan to deliver 3,000 school-based nurseries.

Economy and employment

  • Unlocked billions in investment in carbon capture sites in Merseyside in the North West and Teesside in the North East to help create 4,000 jobs and support 50,000 in the long term.

  • Devolution revolution already underway, with agreement reached to establish a combined county authority in Lancashire.

  • Announced up to £800m in government funding will be made available to better connect rural areas and modernise broadband infrastructure, including in areas like Bury.

Cost of living

  • Established the Child Poverty Taskforce, working across government departments to tackle child poverty.

  • Working to drive up Pension Credit applications across the North West.

  • Extended the Household Support Fund across the North West to support struggling households with bills and essential costs over winter.


Defence
